In a broad sense - any objects, tools and mechanisms made of high quality and expensive materials using the manual work of a master.
To make a frame
vintage look, using a two-color stain, acrylic varnish and other improvised materials ...
The first thing we do is order a wooden frame from a carpenter. We explain to him the profile of how the molding should be made. The profile is effortlessly performed by any joiner or carpenter in his workshop. I have a very simple frame. It is usually inexpensive.
Bring the frame to your home or workshop.
We buy a stain-stain and acrylic varnish, I have a varnish “under the brush”, matte.
I have a stain of two colors - black and brown. Brown is already ending, so add more black.
Having experimented with the color on the back of the frame, first I varnished a piece of about five square centimeters (this is enough to “shoot”), then spread the stain in a suitable proportion brown and black (first mix one drop of brown and, say, three drops black in the bathtub), walked with a brush, looked. Stain that got on the varnish. I like her texture in this case more. And the stain which without the varnish got on the frame, firstly it leaves more, secondly the color is richer and darker, it does not fit my picture.
So, when we have decided how we will do, we need to start. We’ll make some unnecessary rag (I have an old duvet cover). It's easier to do everything on the table. It happens of course when it is more convenient to do on the floor. Something needs to be laid out.Our set includes: 2 types of stain-stain - brown and black; acrylic varnish called Mattlack - Marabu ; a synthetic bristle brush, in this case, a 8 cm wide fleitz; the second brush, which will be able to stir our mixture; rags.
Varnish:
1. pour into the bath, stir if any lumps have formed.
2. apply to the frame - apply quickly, the main thing here is not to miss the moment ... It is necessary to apply varnish on the front side of the frame, on the inner side, and on the sides, more can be varnished anywhere else, because why do extra work when on that side will not be visible.
cover with stain:
3. as soon as varnished, it dries in about 15 minutes, at this time we put a stain.
4. as soon as varnished, it dries in about 15 minutes, at this time we put a stain.
pour the remaining brown in a jar (I have a glass from under the vitamins), you can dilute the remainder of the stain in a jar with water a little and pour them there (15-20 drops will be enough, or "a little by eye"), and also " on the eye "pour two-thirds or three-quarters of the total volume that will turn out, black stain.
5. The bath and brushes are already washed from varnish. Pour the finished color of the stain into the bath and begin to cover the frame. We also cover it fairly quickly, but now we will have some margin of time, since the stain does not soak and dry quickly on the dried varnish. We can do different stains with a brush - on one side, on the other, that is, here you can create different textures, but of course it is better to experiment on a separate piece of wood.
My cedar frame is a solid breed of wood, i.e. it is firmer than a tree. Cedar is also softer and firmer, here you need to check with the joiner. My cedar is not very hard.

6. cover, and do not forget the inner sides, and the outer "sidewall" of the frame. We look. How much we like it in appearance. The stain gradually dries. An explicit vintage is created, because it will not work to coat exactly on the acrylic varnish and on the glue residues (which the frame was fastened with the joiner) in the corners of the frame. If you want a more even color, then you had to first cover the stain, but the frame would have turned darker.

Covered and let dry ... At this time, we drink coffee). Look what I get - this is a light vintage, the product will dry out a little more of a different look, but still - it’s beautiful. If you insert here a very good pictorial canvas, then everything will look great. At this stage, it is better not to rush and let the frame dry well./p>
Such a frame in a baguette salon costs about 1000 rubles, but it cost us $ 250 when ordering from a joiner. , plus a good impression of well-done, own, creative work. Further hands “itch” to create something beautiful again and again)
Do not forget to wash the brushes after work, baths, tightly cover the remains of stain, varnish. Artists have everything to work with - from old towels, bottles of shower gel or shampoo, which you can cut and make a paint tray, various plastic containers, such as cups for hair masks. All this usually lies in a specially designed place, and when you need to do the work, all this goes. This gives the impression that artists are people who store a lot of all that is unnecessary. But in fact, all this is necessary, and the viewer, at times, does not even realize how interesting these artisanal methods create these wonderful things)
So, our frame has dried on top. I turn it over and cover the stain with all the uncovered parts of the tree. We paint the corners inside with a thin brush, it’s more convenient.
Much more goes to the inside of the stain, which our preliminary experiment showed us earlier (when varnish and stain were applied on an area of about 5 square centimeters on the back of the frame). And also on this small piece, for a preliminary experiment, you can experiment a little more, cover it with another stain. It can be seen that the color upon re-coating becomes darker, more saturated, and somewhere even more beautiful ... We got such a beautiful fawn-gray or fawn-ocher frame. In conclusion, to give the product a gloss, you can polish terry cotton fabric front planes. Or the frame is polished, over time, by itself. Dress her in the picture. All a pleasant creation!
